Trendy Products Releases New Range Of Contemporary Tv Furniture

Online furniture retailer Trendy Products is pleased to announce a brand new range of premier Italian Designer TV furniture from Oltre.

This selection has been brought exclusively to the UK by Trendy Products and contains a variety of furniture designs, ranging from conspicuous opulent luxury to understated contemporary style.

Among the TV furniture in the Oltre designer range is an Italian Plasma TV Wall TV Unit. Not only does it mount a TV, it also offers DVD storage, CD storage – and there is even an optional hidden LED bar with either white or blue lights. This TV unit comes in gloss white or black lacquer.

Those who don’t have a wall-mounted TV may instead be interested in the new TV and media unit, which is a classic example of the way the Oltre designer range manages to subvert a traditional piece of furniture and turn it into a contemporary style statement.

Simple, modern and spacious, the contemporary TV and media unit has an asymmetric design and comes with an optional plinth which will extend the storage area along the floor. This piece of contemporary TV furniture comes in either a dark oak finish, walnut or gloss lacquer in black or white and has plenty of space for modern media equipment such as Sky or freeview boxes and DVD players.

Karen Bucceri, who runs the Italian branch of Trendy Products commented on the new Oltre range: “Here in Italy, these kinds of contemporary furniture designs are very popular. Because Trendy Products has offices both in Italy and the UK we were uniquely positioned to be able to offer the Oltre range of Italian designer furniture to our UK customers.”

Business And Legal Forms For Interior Designers

Business and Legal Forms for Interior Designers

Business and Legal Forms for Interior Designers

From Library Journal… Attorney Crawford and professional designer Bruck, coauthors of Business and Legal Forms for Graphic Designers, have once again teamed up to present a comprehensive guide to business organization and legalities this time for interior designers. Though chapters cover successful proposals and negotiations as well as business law, the book consists primarily of forms, including those used for budgeting, scheduling, and contracts as well as logs for purchases and estimates. The forms, also found on the accompanying CD-ROM, are arranged chronologically and include extensive instructions on their use. Highly recommended for professional, college, and large interior design collections.

From customer review… Book was a help to understand what forms would be useful for an owner of an interior design business. the book contained information on how the form is used, an example of the form. a cd was included that contained all forms covered in the book. this was most useful. To be honest, the forms were very basic and did not take advantage of color printers or fancy fonts. I used the forms I needed as a model to create a better versions in microsoft excel. If you are looking for basic forms to provide your clients and vendors, this book contains all that you need. If you need something alittle fancier, and are good with your computer, model your own from what is provided. I would still rate this book as a good buy.

Tropical Hat

tropical hat

It’s a kickass hard hat used by one of our boys. We call this the “tropical hat.”

It’s a real rigid protective hard hat, with chinstrap and suspensions that support or spread the load upon impact. Can protect user from electric shocks, falling objects, etc.

Only, it may be not suited for work areas that include fire and extreme heat (like maybe welding area, metallurgy, etc.). But for ordinary woodwork and making of tropical furniture, this is the best helmet to use. Tropical themed hard hat. Be inspired. Be protected.

From now on, I am issuing memo 2299190, this is the official hard hat of Leoque Philippines. We’ll buy more of these. I am thinking I’ll paint mine with color strips of white (engineer), blue (technical advisor), red (safety inspector), and yellow (laborer). Cause sometime I am all that. Looks cool too, that color combo is Philippine flag colors.

Book: Hollington Industrial Design

book: hollington - industrial design

A description of the company Hollington Associates and the range of products that it has designed, from chess-playing computers to Miesian bus shelters in Milton Keynes. Included in that range are hi-fi systems for NAD and, particularly, office furniture systems. The book also includes the first publication of a revolutionary range for Hermann Miller, the American furniture manufacturer, whose unusual manner of working with designers is described in an essay contributed by Ralph Caplan, the company’s official historian. All the major work is catalogued and explained, with an introduction and an epilogue contributed by Hugh Aldersey-Wiliams. Book profiled Geof Hollington and his associates’ works. It also shows a glimpse how designers work, the learning curve, the frustrations & fulfillment, the inner workings of design & build, relationships with the furniture manufacturer employees.  A good quick read.

*The book shot on top of the hinges.

Wallpapered Furniture

Turn old console table, side boards, chest of drawers, cupboards, dressers into quirky, elegant, jazzed up, fashionable, fun, stylish (insert more adjectives here!) furniture.

Check Bryonie Porter’s furniture collection here. She can wallpaper old furniture, room walls and maybe she can also supply the furniture and wallpapered already.

Of course, you can try DIY-ing this but above average crafting-skill may be necessary. Corners, edges & carvings of furniture are hard to do and final coat of lacquer is needed. I remember wasting two frost-glass-look-rolls once upon a time. I still end up calling the pros eventually. And, for maximum effect, you may need real good designer-look wallpapers with right texture and prints. You can contact some friendly decorators or interior designers and ask if they know professional “wallpaperer” and/or “specialist” that can do this. Or, let your interior designer take care of the furniture customizing.

If you’re here in the Philippines, check her site for inspiration. And, if you reside where she’s at (she is in UK I think), you may phone her and discuss stuff.

IKEA THANKS FANS FOR IPHONE APP DEVELOPMENT

Home furnishings company, IKEA today announced a series of new developments to their 2010 Catalogue iPhone app, following customer feedback provided at launch. IKEA has redeveloped the app over just two months, after inviting fans who had downloaded the app from the Apple iTunes Store to suggest ways the app could be improved via twitter, a phone hotline, email and on the App Store.

The latest version of the catalogue app, now features the most requested functionality, including:

  • search function enabling customers to select products using keywords
  • bookmarking, helping customers to save pages
  • contents page, a colour coded index with links to main sections

Other updates IKEA is currently investigating based on user feedback include: detailed product information on-demand, functionality to find your nearest store, information about what is in stock in your local store.

Jason Baker, IKEA UK and Ireland Marketing Project Manager said:

“We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who downloaded, emailed, phoned and tweeted us their thoughts.  Based on the success of this initiative, and fitting with IKEA’s own philosophy, we will continue listening to our customers and developing our products in line with their feedback.”

Following on from the success of the app in the UK with over 300,000 downloads in the first month, it will now be rolled out for other countries IKEA catalogues.

Always on the lookout for practical ways to help customers with their daily routine, IKEA is still open to hearing from ways to improve the mobile version of the catalogue.

The updated IKEA Catalogue 2010 UK edition is available as a free download from the Apple iTunes Store from 8 April 2010.

Site - To - Store Online Furniture Shop

That’s the exact term they use for what online furniture selling Leoque Philippines does.

Site-To-Store.

Only got this online business model term today upon reading Pier1 news here.

Where, online visitors or buyers choose and pick items from the online furniture showcase. Arrange payments then pick up of items is at the store front. Which, in our case, is in Makati Philippines.

We do not have a central infrastructure or facility where we can directly ship to the buyers. This way, we are doing away with added costs of warehousing, logistics, personnel, etc. Any savings we get, we directly pass this onto our buyers. And so Metro Manila buyers can get fairly good priced furniture from us.

But still 1, in the future, we are looking in the possibility of shipping directly to buyers. Or, having more pick up points in the city. Ooooh, thinking plans & future is a nosebleed. Let’s stay put for a while and build on the portfolio first.

But still 2, if you happen to know a good sized commercial space in Makati Area (not in Makati Business District like Ayala, Paseo, Buendia, etc.), please send us a note. Preferably a good sized warehouse type or a compound or lot with built-in structure. Budget is P50k or lower. We feel, that’s the showroom rent we can handle without passing much of the cost to our buyers.

New Market Study - Philippines Real State Report Q3 2010

Although the Philippines’ economy rode out the global financial crisis fairly well, 2009 was a difficult year for most protagonists in the country’s commercial Real Estate sector.

Over the course of the year, rental rates fell sharply in all three cities for which BMI has gathered data – Manila, Makati and Cebu. Worse, protagonists are far from confident that there will be a major recovery in the coming year or so. The conventional wisdom is that market rates will stabilise and/or rise by around 5% in the wake of the elections that are due for May 2010.

In Cebu especially, there appears to have been over-building of commercial Real Estate and consequent over-supply. However, our sources indicate that a more important problem has been the general lack of confidence about the prospects for the Philippines on the part of landlords/owners and tenants.

In most of the countries where real estate sectors are monitored by BMI, a slippage in rental rates during 2009 – in the wake of the global financial crisis – has resulted in a corresponding fall in yields. Typically, there are few or no transactions, so rental rates have fallen in relation to prices and capital values that were determined some time previously. In the Philippines, by contrast, it is very difficult to generalise about the movement in rental yields over the last year or so. In some sub-sectors, such as Makati offices and Cebu retail space, yields have actually risen sharply. In most others, they have tracked sideways or fallen. Our suspicion is that, in the areas where yields have risen (meaning that capital values have slipped sharply relative to rental rates which were falling) there have been a number of distressed sales.

Looking forward, we assume that yields will remain broadly unchanged over the next five years if they are already well into double-digits. In other sub-sectors, we anticipate that yields will rise gradually as investors assess that meaningful improvement in the Philippines’ business environment is unlikely. Interviews with our in-country sources were conducted in late March 2010.

Key Features Of This Report

This is the latest edition of a new series of industry reports published by BMI that seeks to identify the key dynamics of the real estate sectors of 44 countries around the world, some of which are developed and some of which are, in every sense, emerging markets. Once again, the questions that we seek to answer for each country remain as follows: What are the main issues that will matter to actors in and around real estate development in the country concerned, both over the long and the short term? What are the main constraints that they face? What are the key insights that one garners when one compares the real estate sector of the country concerned with its peers in other countries?

For Q3 we have introduced a very substantial new improvement to the reports. We have incorporated data and qualitative observations provided to us by commercial real estate agents operating in the countries we survey. As a result we have gained a much clearer picture of the balance between demand and supply in each of three main sub-sectors – office, retail and industrial. We have also introduced a new approach to the forecasting of rental yields, which is discussed in the methodology sector of this report.

Twilight, err, Twig Light

Residual sticks & twigs out from the production of the twic-clock. Bundled together and used as all-natural eco friendly accent. Sometime last month, I took it out and shot it with the moon as the backdrop (or updrop) and light source. Only posting it now. Posting a moon shot too that I haphazardly took that night.

Just for kicks, let’s post the trailer of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse…
