Furniture Exporters Thanks PGMA For Supporting Sector

Furniture exporters, headed by Myrna Bituin, proprietor of Betis Crafts Inc. of Pampanga, thanked President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s sound financial policies and support to exporters, which “enabled us to perform well when all our peers in the world were falling.”

In a testimonial given during the Natural Resources Legacy Part II held Friday at the Rizal Hall of MalacaƱang, Bituin said there had been active interaction between the government and the exporters, particularly furniture exporters, whom she represents as trustee of the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc., during the past nine years.

Bituin said that the P28-million Pampanga Furniture Training Center for Mt. Pinatubo eruption victims, who were resettled in Madapdap, Sta. Lucia and San Isidro, trained thousands who later found work in the industry.

The skills they developed have also given them the opportunity to be employed in the overseas jobs market. Today, the center is a common trading facility for the marginalized communities in Pampanga.

“We have also forged agreements with furniture centers in the Cagayan region for sustainable source of raw materials,” she said.

Bituin thanked the President for Executive Order No 879 creating the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council, which requires that 25 percent of school desks for public elementary schools utilize bamboos as raw materials.

“Your commitment to Asean (Association of South East Asian Nations) on climate change that 500,000 hectares of bamboo be planted by the Council in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Agriculture (DA) have provided a steady and stable source of raw materials for furniture manufacturers,” she said.

The President, she said, also allocated P1 billion for the Export Support Fund and part of the P1.3 billion National Development Program Fund for 2010 to sustain all local materials used by the industry.

“We hope that this initiative can be institutionalized in the new administration,” Bituin said. (PNA) – RMA/OPS/RSM

Interior Design Course In The Philippines

interior design course via lasalle college inc., manila, philippines

Saw this yesterday via google ads (yes google adwords works!), there’s another short course in interior design in the Philippines that you can enroll in.

Interior Design. Interior design deals with the style, arrangement and decoration of surfaces within a space (usually domestic), including the furniture, colour scheme, soft furnishings, window treatments, accents and accessories. The goal of interior design is to provide a certain “feeling” or mood for a room. In this short course, students will learn to decorate and beautify the interior of their homes or retail establishments.

You can get a certificate course in interior design at LaSalle College International, Manila Philippines via their continuing education program. LCI is heavy on fashion courses and they are not affiliated with either De La Salle University or College of Saint Benilde’s interior design course. They are connected with the LaSalle International in Montreal, Canada and a proper Canadian School and the curricula of LCI-Manila are pedagogical programs approved by the Quebec Ministry of Education. The campus is at Makati btw.

They have night classes, weekend classes, and customized sched. Check LaSalle College Inc., Manila and contact them for the schedules of the Interior Design course and the tuition fee.

A certificate course like this won’t give you license to practice interior design professionally. But at least, for the homemakers, DIY interior designing for fun, design enthusiasts, part time interior decorator for friends & families, or for pros in related field who want to learn more about interiors, furniture, color scheme, soft furnishings, window treatments, accents and accessories, this is worth the look.

Padjik, Symetrik

This is the 2nd look of the “PADJIK” Console table. One that has six (6) stained bamboo poles. Three (3) each side and symmetrically angled and placed, for those who want a more balanced easy-on-the-eye look. We call this “PADJIK SYMETRIK”! The best part is, the base slab, you can use the space for displays, books and whatnot.

Virtual Theft Of Virtual Furniture

Read about this today, police are investigating the virtual theft of virtual furniture on a social networking site popular with teenagers, Habbo. I picked up the new from ABSCBN so I hope what I read wasn’t a virtual news.

The site Habbo is a sim-like virtual hotel site aimed at teenagers where they can create a character for themselves to hang out with friends, get a pet and do some virtual stuff like furnish their own rooms. After the phishing/hacking, one (or group of people) was able to get usernames & passwords and was able to get the virtual furniture. The virtual furniture most probably, they would sell later on. Some reportedly lost real-value 1200USD worth of virtual furniture.

But after the virtual thievery got to the mainstream news plus police doing some work and site owners looking into it, I doubt if the virtual furniture would still be sale-able. Technology is so powerful and intelligent, I see site developer being able to tag all the stolen furniture and able to identify where or to whose account all the furniture were delivered.

So kids, take care of your Habbo accounts and do real-world furniture buying once in a while.

The Divider Hinge On This

bisagra

These are hinges we used on the dividers. This is stock photo of hinges. Somehow, somewhere, some-when, one kid in prep school shall have an assignment pertaining to hinges and he may need a photo. Well here it is Kid. Take it if you’ll use it for school. For commercial use, you have to ask first. Good luck on your project.

A hinge is a type of bearing that connects two solid objects, typically allowing only a limited angle of rotation between them. Two objects connected by an ideal hinge rotate relative to each other about a fixed axis of rotation. Hinges may be made of flexible material or of moving components. <via>

Asahi Service Center In The Philippines

I posted that we intend to buy Ariston washing machine sometime ago, like yesterday, and look what a home shopping downgrade just occurred… we ended up buying an Asahi cordless electric kettle.

The Tefal electric kettle we have finally retired after 5 years or so of amazing service. Freshly bought today, this budget-friendly Asahi water boiler is mainit-init pa. Only P498.00!!!

caption? asahi, feels so right!

While we’re at it, let me post the Asahi service center in the Philippines. In case something goes wrong with an Asahi product, fret not, don’t be hot, there are service centers in Luzon! Visayas! and Mindanao! One each region!

Please see below:

Luzon – Manila (02) 726 2629, 642 8437, 0922 851 3314 ; email: asahi.ph@gmail.com

Visayas – Cebu (032)238 8889, 0922 897 7792; email: jarlucero26@yahoo.com

Mindanao- Davao (082) 244 0895, 0922 8770168; email:april_gica@yahoo.com

(But to me, if I know that a 2500-peso Tefal cordless electric kettle is for the long boil, err, haul, then I chose to buy P500 peso Asahi boiler, if it breaks down in 6 months, I think I’ll bother Asahi people no more. I’ll buy new one na lang.)
