A Nail’s Art

124606_42 nail-art-7 nail-art-6 nail-art-5

Mother of mercy! Life is unfair. Some guys are just born gifted. Real artists. They see and envision things we ordinary mortals can’t see.

Check the work of this guy, Vlad. Using ordinary crooked, bent, rusting nails and some other home stuff, and he has got one pure artistic set of photos of nails suggesting life situations, feelings, failures, etc. These nails freaking breathe.

I got nails and screws and stuff and camera…. Inspired by this, we’re gonna be making our own version of this. I hope its fine by you comrade Vlad.

Leoque’s New Logo

new logo - house of leoque

The idea that is “house of leoque” popped out last summer 2009. That’s the time when we posted that we are to transfer to what’s supposed to be a bigger office. (BTW, it turns out the place where the furniture are is still small. 24/7, we are on a lookout for a bigger and better warehouse or showroom.)

Then, last September 14, 2009, we needed a quick logo banner for posting over at our architect friend’s site, 215-design.com. And the “House of Leoque” logo was born…

Looking for Leoque

looking-for-leoque

Juzt zaw thiz, the Google.com form or search bar field, auto enters “leoque”, “leoque.com”, “leoque collection” when you start typing.. l-e-o-q…

Could be, that the Google engine is crawling our website and therefore has thousand search results ready in anticipation of “leoque” search. It could also mean that, the amazingly intelligent Google search engine and architecture sees that many and by many I mean 200 in two weeks people are searching for “leoque”. With this, either Google is damn super intelligent and anticipates what we are looking for – OR – I am the dumb one.

Try it here… google.com.

Oops, am not that dumb. As per site logs, this first 2 weeks of Feburary 2010, people are indeed looking for “leoque”, “leoque furniture” and “leoque collection”.

See search strings below:

The curious case of brown bookshelves

brown-ladder-bookcase (2) brown-ladder-bookcase

We started producing the ladder shelves furniture the year 2008. And the color finish we started doing was the dark brown and units started rolling, or shall we say, leaning.

In the succeeding months, more orders for these ladders started coming in but for most of the orders, they wanted it in total black or the almost nothing-on-it, natural finish. Somehow the dark brown version was gone from the running models. Curiously, we never made the dark browns again all these months though it sold well early. Until now.

From now on, we gonna make brown again. I miss brown. Not this Brown

Happy birthdate Kiddie (table)

Exactly a month ago, we told (see here) how this KAYAK bench can serve as kiddie bench. It’s been one month now and I figure we should celebrate the monthsary of the post by blowing one cake candle.

L-type wall mount metal bracket

bakit l-bracket?

bakit L-bracket?

For the lean-in furniture we sell (i.e. ladder bookcase, ladder shelves, ladder type computer table), we haven’t heard any issues of sliding thus far. Please contact us if you experienced some sort of a slide (excluding any instance where great deal of external force was applied ) and help us build better furniture.

But for those who want assurance and don’t mind the possible eye-semi-sore that it will give, we recommend the metal L-bracket or wall-mount bracket. Oh wait, you can discreetly fix-mount the ladder shelves and ladder laptop table. For it to be not easily visible, just mount it atop the highest shelf for the computer table. For the ladder shelves, you can screw the mounting bracket below the first layer shelf.

These brackets can also be used in other applications like additional support for panel bookcase, fixed floor mount table legs or chair legs (to prevent movement and even theft of chairs and tables in public areas), enforce wood joint corners, etc.

These L-brackets come in different form and sizes. Will not cost over P20.00 and easily available at your favorite hardware store around the bend, and most definitely available at “convenience hardware stores” like Ace Hardware (the helpful place by the way). Do It Yourself Hardware, Handyman, True Value, etc.  Go over any of these hardware stores and buy the metal l-brackets.

And, don’t forget to buy the lean-in shelves and lean-in  type computer table too.  :-)
